Avvo is seeking a Legal Community Manager

We are currently looking for a talented Legal Community Manager. Overall responsibility will be to drive engagement with Avvo among lawyers and law firms through grassroots, word-of-mouth and outreach marketing. We are looking for an outgoing and highly professional individual who thrives on initiating and developing relationships with individuals and groups, has the zeal of an “evangelist”, and the empathy of customer care manager. This position will require a significant amount of time communicating with lawyers, both offline and online. This position will report to our VP of Products and Marketing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop one-on-one relationships with Avvo community members via phone, email, and community forums
• Encourage adoption and ongoing usage of Avvo features among registered lawyers and law firms
• Recruit new lawyers and law firms to participate in Avvo’s directory and community features
• Represent Avvo within the legal community, including online forums and blogs, legal marketing events, and legal technology events.
• Plan and execute events, both online and offline, to drive loyalty and engagement among Avvo users
• Identify and pursue opportunities to build scalable online programs to grow and sustain the Avvo community
• Advocate on behalf of users to build products that meet the needs of the legal community

Qualifications:

• 3+ years in community development, product marketing, sales, customer relations or similar roles that include significant customer outreach and interaction.
• Willing and able to “evangelize” Avvo and recruit new community members
• Superb interpersonal skills and a highly professional demeanor
• Thrives on initiating and developing relationships with individuals and groups
• User of, and contributor to, online communities, including social networks and user generated content sites
• Creative thinker who can dream up new ways to build and engage a community
• Passionate user advocate and demonstrated consumer mind-set.
• Start-up experience a plus.
• J.D. and/or legal background strongly preferred

We are growing our team at a feverish pace and are currently looking for a talented Community Manager. Overall responsibility will be to drive adoption and engagement among users, early adopters, and influencers through grassroots, word-of-mouth and outreach marketing. We are looking for someone who “gets” social media and user-generated content, has the zeal of an “evangelist” and the empathy of customer care manager. This position will report to our VP of Products and Marketing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement strategies and programs to drive user and community adoption and engagement
• Lead outreach programs, both online and offline
• Build communities of Avvo users on Avvo.com, as well as on other community sites (e.g. Facebook).
• Engage and communicate about Avvo with the community in online forums and blogs
• Cultivate and manage relationships with influential community members and “super-users”
• Create and manage programs that will keep the community motivated and engaged
• Evolve community management and abuse policies and help to monitor them
• Advocate on behalf of customers to build great products

Qualifications:

• 4+ years in online community development, product marketing, or similar roles that include significant customer interaction.
• Heavy user of, and contributor to, online communities, including social networks and user generated content sites
• Creative thinker who can dream up new ways to build and engage a community
• Willing and able to “evangelize” Avvo and recruit community members
• Highly empathetic with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in an online environment.
• Loves to interact with individuals and groups
• Passionate user advocate and demonstrated consumer mind-set.
• Start-up experience a plus.
• BA required. J.D. a plus, but not required.
