Avvo Inbox
After Mark’s flame mail post, (and at the risk of being entirely self-serving) I would like to share an email that was sent to our Customer Service Team:
You are awesome and I am so grateful for you and avvo. You have no idea how much you are helping every day people who can not afford a lawyer. I think so highly of lawyers now and it is all because of you and AVVO. Keep up the good work.
Thank you
Tina

Hello
That customer giving cudos to your website really seems doubtful. I can easily type up a cudos like that for my own company , post it on my own blog and voila i have a very positive feedback.
I think you guys are using fair bit of false pretence…
I say this because I tried reviewing a lawyer I worked with. I wasn`t 100% positive, but nevertheless my experience. You never posted it. The lawyer had a 10 out 10 ranking, my guess the post didn`t go up because it would mean the lawyer may get a ranking less than 10 if it is true on what you say that your “avvo calculation`is based on customer feedback also. ..
So avvo doesn`t really make sense … seems quite fake to me.
Rating doesn`t work unless it comes from a customer that has actually worked with the lawyer. With your scheme, you never really know if a customers actually worked with a lawyer and whether a review is credible.
So the whole avvo score doesn`t make sense.
Explains why lawyers are outrageous …

Hi Dan,
Cristin with Avvo Customer Care here. Just for the record client reviews do not contribute toward the Avvo Rating. We keep them separated as an additional reference point for potential clients. We do post both positive and negative reviews, however we may not post client ratings that:
* Include profanity or other offensive language
* Appear to be personal attacks rather than comments on professional skills
* Are serious accusations that are not supported by specific facts
* Have the appearance of not being submitted by an actual client
We take several steps to maintain the quality of ratings: We require users to register before submitting a rating, and we carefully review every Client Rating before we post it. We also rely on the Avvo community, so please let us know if you see a rating that seems suspicious or incorrect by emailing me at customercare@avvo.com.
Please feel free to email me at customercare@avvo.com or post here to the blog with additional comments or questions.
Thanks,
Cristin
p.s. I’ve sent you an email as well to follow up regarding your client review.
