Lawyers in the News. Special Spitzy Edition!

March 15th, 2008 by Amanda

I couldn’t write a “Lawyers in the News” post without including some juicy Eliot Spitzer quotes…

1 ”This was a sophisticated and lucrative operation with a multitiered management structure. It was, however, nothing more than a prostitution ring, and now its owners and operators will be held accountable.”
(Regarding those arrested in a prostitution ring out of Staten Island in April 2004)

2. “Crisis is a terrible thing to waste. You take a crisis and use it to galvanize public sentiment.”
(Interview with Fortune Magazine in November, 2005)

3. “Never talk when you can nod, and never nod when you can wink, and never write an e-mail because it’s death. You’re giving prosecutors all the evidence we need.”
(Interview with ABC in 2006)

4. “What we are seeing out of Washington is the destruction of the social fabric. When you see a government so inept, so destructive, you have to stand back and ask, ‘Why?’ We have been living through an era where the leadership of the other party has denigrated the very notion of government”

5. “We don’t believe in covering up for those who commit a crime. So if there is a disagreement there, I’m happy to engage.”

6. “We must transform our government so that it is as ethical and wise as all of New York”
(Inaugural Address, January, 2007)

7. “I don’t care about motivation. I care about credibility.”
