We use the Alexa API. It costs practically nothing (for the volume we are doing) and Ruby makes it easy to hook up to web services.

My numbers DO come from Alexa (we use the Amazon web services API). I think I can explain what you’re seeing, though.

Because the list updates daily, I need to take the daily rank to get a rolling 30d average. I’m guessing that the sites you listed don’t show up on a daily rank. Without a daily rank, I can’t make a fair comparison between those that do have a daily rank and those that don’t.
